Christmas in Dayton

Christmas in Dayton is a terrific time.  Today (12/26/2012) it snowed a ton.  We had 6-8 inches and many businesses were closed.  It is a bit amusing that we didn’t have a white Christmas -- but we certainly had a white post-Christmas.  This is a good thing because it gave us all the opportunity to explore Dayton and to discover all the cool things you can do as you get into the holiday mood.
One of the best things to see during Christmas in Dayton is to see the Clifton Mill and its fantastic decorations.  They also have one of the best light shows you’ll ever see on Christmas.  Below is an example of one such light show.  This was actually taken last year:

Clifton Mills also has one of the most fantastic collections of Santa Clause.  Check out a few of the pictures we took:

There is no doubt Clifton Mills is one of the best places to go for Christmas in Dayton, but if you don’t feel like fighting the crowds or paying the entrance fee, there are a ton of free things you can do as well.  For example there is family across the street from the Fairhaven Church near Kettering that puts together one heck of a light show.  They gussy up their house and then transmit Christmas music to a radio frequency so that you can listen to the music in your car.  Once you tune in to the music, you’ll also see that the lights are in time with the music.  It is really cool.  Here is an example:
